Instead of making a trip to the skating rink, a public school is bringing the rink to the classroom.
Inline skater Chris Creveling, who grew up in upper Bucks County, is believed to be the second homegrown Lehigh Valley athlete to ever qualify for the Winter Olympics. Following final confirmation by the U.S. Olympic Committee, he will compete at the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics Feb. 8-23. Tommy Litz of Allentown competed as a figure skater at the 1964 Winter Olympics.

The journey began for M Veeramakali Vignesh when he was just five years old. A doctor had suggested that the boy, who had an awkward way of walking, take skating classes. The prescription worked.
Vignesh, now a class 9 student of Suguna PIP School here, not only learned to walk well but also took an enormous liking to skating so much so that he has started winning medals at skating competitions. He is just back from winning two medals at the national level competition held by the Roller Skating Federation of India in Mumbai, a qualifying meet for the selection camp for international events.
